LGT scooped up a total of three awards at the Swiss Sponsorship Awards 2018 with its project “LGT Young Soloists”. The private bank won the “International Sponsoring” category and took second place for “Culture Sponsoring”. It also received the audience award for its sponsoring commitment.
The Swiss Sponsorship Awards, which recognize new and innovative sponsoring concepts, were held for the sixth time yesterday in Zurich. With LGT Young Soloists, an orchestra composed of young string soloists founded by LGT together with violinist and teacher Alexander Gilman in 2013, LGT achieved top rankings in two out of four categories, winning first place in the “International Sponsoring” category and second place for “Culture Sponsoring”. It also won the audience award.
“Winning these awards is very special for us. We are delighted to have received a grand total of three such prestigious accolades,” says Monika Schreiner, Head Group Marketing Services at LGT. “We have been on board with LGT Young Soloists from the outset, and are strongly committed to supporting the young musicians on their journey to becoming professional musicians. This commitment benefits both sides – the orchestra provides the musicians with an excellent platform for their professional development, and our clients have the pleasure of enjoying top quality concerts performed by outstanding musicians. We are very pleased to have received confirmation from the jury and the audience that LGT Young Soloists is a very special project.”
On the path to becoming professional musicians
By establishing the LGT Young Soloists, LGT and Artistic Director Alexander Gilman have created a rare and ideal platform for exceptional talents to develop both musically and personally. “With this project, we are further pursuing the longstanding tradition of promoting the arts that our owner, the Princely Family of Liechtenstein, has always fostered,” says Monika Schreiner.
The string ensemble currently consists of around 30 highly-talented soloists ranging from 12 to 23 years of age. As members of the LGT Young Soloists, the young musicians perform as soloists in their own orchestra and accompany each other. This gives them an unparalleled opportunity to regularly perform onstage with peers, and gain experience as soloists, chamber and orchestra musicians. Since its founding in 2013, the young soloists have performed at important concert halls around the world, and enchanted their audiences with musical performances of the highest caliber. In March, they will be releasing their third CD “Nordic Dream” under the renowned record label RCA Red Seal (Sony).
Points scored with the jury and the audience
At the Swiss Sponsorship Awards, LGT’s sponsorship of LGT Young Soloists impressed both a twelve-member jury consisting of marketing specialists as well as the knowledgeable audience. In the lead-up to the awards ceremony, 15 sponsoring concepts were nominated by the jury – LGT Young Soloists was the first-ever project to be nominated for two categories. The scores given by the jury accounted for half of the overall result, and the definitive winners were determined by the audience at the Swiss Sponsorship Awards 2018 in Zurich by means of live voting. LGT not only received the audience’s votes for the awards in two categories, but also the audience award, enabling it to prevail against its strong competitors.
