LGT SmartBanking can be used on any Web-enabled device (desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone). LGT SmartBanking is compatible with the following browsers:

Chrome (86.0 and higher)
Firefox (84.0 and higher)
Edge (87.0 and higher)
Safari (11.1 and higher)

The LGT SmartBanking app works on mobile devices that meet the following system requirements:

Apple: iOS 11.0 or higher
Android: 6.0 or higher

For security reasons, you will need a user account complete with personal user ID and password in order to access LGT SmartBanking. A letter containing these details will be mailed to you. Your activation letter will be sent by separate cover. Please keep these documents in a safe place and do not share them with anyone else.

If you log in on a desktop, laptop or tablet:
For security reasons, you will always need to provide authentication on a second device as well as entering your user ID and password. This means that you will need a smartphone or a second tablet running the LGT SmartBanking app in order to use LGT SmartBanking on your desktop, laptop or tablet. This can be downloaded from your mobile device’s app store. Alternatively, you can use an LGT cryptogram scanner. This is a separate small scanning device that your contact will be happy to provide you with on request. You can use your smartphone or LGT cryptogram scanner to scan the cryptogram on your desktop, laptop or tablet to provide authentication. A security code will then appear to complete the authentication process.

If you log in on a smartphone:
If you would like to access LGT SmartBanking directly from your smartphone, you will only be required to enter your user ID and password. You will not need to provide authentication using a cryptogram. Please be aware that you will have to activate your mobile device before you can use the LGT SmartBanking app for the first time. You will need a desktop, laptop or tablet for this one-time activation.

Online banking applications are popular targets for fraudsters. For example, they try to circumvent security measures by obtaining user data via deceptive e-mails or malware and in this way gaining access to online banking. We at LGT therefore advise you to always be attentive and observe the following security instructions when using online banking:

Protect your data

  • Never give user IDs, passwords or access and activation letters to any third party, and do not take any photos, copies or scans of these.
  • Always question unsolicited or unexpected contacts purporting to be from LGT, e.g. asking for account information or offering to resolve IT problems.
  • Only use the original LGT SmartBanking website and the original mobile app for online banking with LGT.
  • More generally, LGT will never ask you to disclose confidential data or grant remote access to your e-banking by telephone or e-mail.
  • Carefully check the information that appears on your authentication device when logging in or making a transaction, and only proceed when you are completely happy. 

Recognize phishing mails 

  • Check e-mails (e.g. based on sender address and content) and app push notifications carefully. Even an email that seems to come from a familiar sender could be forged.
  • Do not open any links or attachments in emails that appear suspicious.

Device security 

  • Use the latest release of all operating systems and browsers and up-to-date, tested antivirus programs on all devices (computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, etc.).
  • Activate your computer’s firewall.

Password security

  • Choose complex passwords for your device and applications.
  • Do not reveal your password to anyone.
  • Use difference passwords for each e-banking application and change them regularly.

Ending your online banking session securely

  • Make sure you end your LGT SmartBanking session properly using the dedicated “Logout” function. Do not simply close the website or browser.
  • After logging out of your online banking session, delete your browser history (empty cache). Alternatively, open LGT SmartBanking using your browser’s incognito or private mode. That way, none of your data will be stored.
