On this page we describe the services relating to all aspects of securities trading. We explain the most important features and functions of our services.
If necessary, we make occasional use of certain technical terms which are specified by law and which we explain in the following text.
This page is for information purposes only. The agreement that you conclude with LGT Bank AG Zweigniederlassung Österreich (referred to in brief as LGT Österreich) contains the legal provisions.
A security is evidence that you have a share in a company or an obligation. A obligation is understood to be a contractual agreement between two or more people or companies which determines their rights and duties. Nowadays hardly any securities are printed on paper. Your securities will exist only in digital form in your security custody account, in a similar way to the money in your bank account.
Securities are stored in a security custody account. When you buy securities, they are posted to a security custody account. You must have a security custody account in order to be able to buy and sell securities. We also refer to this buying and selling as a transaction. In other words, the security custody account is a special account for your securities.
You can open a security custody account with us. To do this, you need an official photo ID, e.g. a valid identity card or passport. After you have completed and signed all the other necessary documents, we will open the security custody account and you will receive a custody account maintenance agreement.
For a security custody account, you also need another account. This is called a settlement account. We use this account to pay the purchase price of the securities and the fees charged by LGT Österreich. Your profit shares and interest and the proceeds of the sale of your securities are paid into this account. These profit shares are also referred to as dividends. If necessary, you can have payments made from your settlement account and money can also be transferred into the account.
Asset management or portfolio management is our management of your security portfolio on your behalf. This allows us to buy and/or sell securities in your name and on the basis of the previously defined investment guidelines that have been agreed with you.
You can buy securities without advice (an advice-free transaction) or with investment advisory services.
Our investment advisory services enable us to obtain information about the following subjects
This information enables us to recommend security services and financial instruments to you.
In an advice-free transaction, we collect information about your knowledge and experience of securities. However, we do not make any recommendations concerning securities services or financial instruments.
A security instruction is an instruction to buy or sell a specific type and number of securities. It is often referred to as an order.
You can issue your security instructions in the following ways:
Using LGT SmartBanking, you can also do this on your computer, smartphone or tablet.
Important: Security instructions issued via LGT SmartBanking are advice-free transactions.
Depending on the type of security instruction, the following information is required:
A variety of fees can be charged in securities trading. We agree the fees with you in the terms and conditions.
You must pay capital gains tax on returns from securities. The returns include, in particular, profits from the sale of securities, dividends and interest. As a bank that holds custody accounts, we pay the capital gains tax directly to the tax authorities. You do not need to do anything.
Please note: We do not advise you on questions of personal tax. The tax implications of an investment always depend on your personal circumstances. Please contact your tax advisor for more information
A cost schedule is an overview of the fees that can be incurred when purchasing or selling securities (a transaction) or when using other services.
There are three different types of cost schedule. These depend on when in the transaction the cost schedule is created:
Before the transaction: The cost preview gives you an overview of the probable fees and the effects on the returns before the purchase or sale.
After the transaction: The cost schedule shows in retrospect the actual fees that have been charged. We send you the cost schedules as soon as possible after the transaction has taken place. You may receive the cost schedule at the latest on the first business day after the transaction.
Annual: The cost schedule shows all the fees and payments charged during a year. You receive the cost schedule at the end of the year with your custody account statement.
The custody account statement shows the type and number of the securities in your custody account and their market value. You receive a custody account statement every three months.
Your custody account maintenance agreement is concluded for an indefinite period. This means that it does not have an end date which has been specified in advance.
To end the custody account maintenance agreement, you must terminate it. You can do this at any time.
LGT Österreich can also terminate the custody account maintenance agreement and must give a notice period of two months (in the case of consumers).
You and LGT Österreich can terminate the custody account maintenance agreement at any time for good cause. In this case, the termination takes effect immediately.
You can transfer your securities from one security custody account to another security custody account at LGT Österreich or to a security custody account at another bank. Important: You will normally incur costs when you transfer a custody account and you may have to pay capital gains tax. During the transfer of the custody account you cannot access your securities
