Wine miniseries "Sip & Sparkle" - Episode 3

In the third episode of "Sip & Sparkle", sommeliers I.D. Princess Marie von und zu Liechtenstein and Lisa Bader discover sparkling wines from around the world.

This third episode focuses on sparkling wines and answers the following questions:

  • How can you tell the difference between champagne and other sparkling wines such as prosecco, cava or English sparkling wine?
  • Which grape varieties characterise champagne - and why does Austrian Riesling or Veltliner sparkling wine taste so different?
  • How much do the bubble structure and choice of glass influence the taste experience of sparkling wine?
  • What foods go well with sparkling wine: fast food? Coconut and lemongrass sauces?

H.S.H. Princess Marie von und zu Liechtenstein

H.S.H. Princess Marie von Liechtenstein has assisted the Princely Winery, the court cellar of the Princely family of Liechtenstein, in marketing and distribution since 2013. At the beginning of 2014, Princess Marie became a qualified sommelier. After graduating from the Europa Wirtschaftsschulen (EWS), she worked for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF) and for Bismarck Media, a PR and event agency in New York specialising in fashion.

Lisa Bader

Lisa Bader's passion for good wine led her to abandon her plans to study medicine. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in international hotel and event management, she trained to become a certified sommelier. From 2017 to 2023, she worked as head sommelier at The Dolder Grand in Zurich. Lisa has received numerous awards. Having completed the Advanced Sommelier level, she is awaiting admission to the final examinations for the Master Sommelier diploma.
